景點簡介

The statue of Lord Wenchang in Wenchang Temple traces back to the Japanese colonial period. A Chinese merchant brought the statue with him to Taiwan for business. He worshiped it daily, but after suffering business failure, he abandoned the statue in a grove. One evening, a woman discovered it and, not knowing which deity it was, gathered several kind-hearted people to bring it back. An elderly man recognized it as Lord Wenchang, the deity in charge of human fortune and official rank, and a small temple was built in Lane 45, Minsheng West Road for worship. Over time, many devotees came to pray, often seeing their wishes fulfilled, especially students seeking academic success.

As the only temple in Zhongshan District dedicated to Lord Wenchang, it is a significant place of worship. The temple is always bustling with incense offerings, particularly during exam seasons when many students come to pray for academic achievement and favorable results.
